About Thermostandard
The question most thermostat shoppers really have isn't which model has the nicest screen. It's whether a model will run the system they already have. That answer sits behind the old thermostat's cover: the letters on the terminals, whether there's a C wire, whether an O/B wire says heat pump, whether a W2 or Y2 says two stages, or whether thick wires say 240-volt baseboard heat.
Thermostandard is built around that question. Every thermostat in the catalog carries what its maker states about C wires, heat pumps, stages, system types, voltage and load, set out the same way so two models can be read side by side. The wiring checker reads your system from the terminals you tick and sorts thermostats by whether their makers support it.
Coverage runs from smart and learning thermostats through programmable and non-programmable models, millivolt and line-voltage thermostats for gas heaters and baseboard heat, to the parts around them: room sensors, C-wire adapters and transformers, thermostat wire, wall plates, zone panels, dampers and humidistats.
Who runs it
Thermostandard is an independent reference. It doesn't make, sell or install HVAC equipment, and no maker pays to be listed. Some buy links pay a commission; the affiliate disclosure sets out how that works and why it has no say over what we list.
